Travel checklist

Here is a checklist of things that should be considered essential and that I always take with me. This list is designed for a motorcycle tour to Ireland or Scotland with overnight stays in B&Bs/guesthouses.    

Papers/Money

( ) Identity card (valid for at least another 6 months)

( ) Foreign health insurance certificate/insurance
( ) Booking confirmations (ferry, B&Bs)
( ) Cash for the B&Bs (Scotland=GBP, Ireland=Euro)

( ) Map data / navigation device
( ) detailed directions to the B&Bs

( ) Leather cloth for drying tank/seat

( ) High-visibility vest (mandatory in Belgium)

( ) Provisions for the first crossing*

Note: Hairdryer & towels are not required

* If you want to save money, it's a good idea to bring some provisions for the crossing (a rough guide: 2 small croissants without butter & topping + 2 small cappuccinos = €10.60).
