Day 8, June 28, 2005

On the eighth day, the journey continued via well-developed roads and existing motorways (with roundabouts, something that would be nice for Germany) to Dublin requiring over 304 km of road "eating".

Since my walking wasn't quite up to par yet, we opted for a guided city tour, which was supposed to last about 75 minutes. The timing worked out well; they probably factored in all the traffic jams in Dublin.

We stayed in Dublin at Noeleen Bryan, place, located in the Glasnevin district. Naturally, there was a pub just 200 meters away (our tour guide did a good job choosing our accommodations, didn't he?).

To get into town, the bus stop is just a stone's throw away. It's definitely the best way to get around Dublin; we wouldn't even consider any other options. The motorcycles are parked in the back garden, and the metal gate is closed, ensuring their safety.

If you like Dublin, there's a lot to experience here, but you should plan enough time for it. Whether it's visiting the Guinness Brewery, the Jameson Distillery, Trinity University, or many other places.

There are no limits to spending money here either; the shopping streets offer everything imaginable, souvenir shops spread over three floors, various live events by street performers… even this is impossible to list. Anyone who still hasn't had enough and wants to go for a walk can do so in various parks (Stephens Green, Garden of Remembrance, Phoenix Park…).

If we had wanted to see or experience more during our tour of Dublin, we could easily have extended our stay by a few weeks. Unfortunately, our employers and sponsors have a somewhat different opinion, which is a real shame.
