Day 3, May 29, 2003

Today's planned route took us back to Tralee in the evening. The route led us along a very narrow road to Connor Pass , where we enjoyed another magnificent view. The advantage of this narrow road is that campers, caravans, and trucks are not allowed. What a wise decision!

We wind our way up the switchbacks, occasionally having to watch out for free-roaming sheep. They seem uninterested in us and continue grazing undisturbed. After crossing the Connor Pass, we descend again to Dingle, a small, picturesque port town.

Dingle is famous for its attraction, the dolphin Fungie. We boarded a small fishing boat and went out into Dingle Bay. After an hour on the boat, we returned to shore and were incredibly lucky to see the dolphin. He swam alongside the boat for a while. Unfortunately, not all digital cameras are suitable for such shots. I made the wrong choice when selecting my camera.🙁

After a short walk and some shopping in Dingle, we continued on to Slea Head , the westernmost point of Europe. After a long, very relaxing break, we returned to Dingle and had a drink at Dick Mac's Pub. Julia Roberts, Robert Mitchum, Dolly Parton, and others have been guests there. An interesting pub, right across from the church. When you enter, you see the bar on the right and a small shop on the left. Apparently, men used to take advantage of this after church: "I'm just going shopping..." which probably meant they were going for a drink. *very innocent look*
