Day 1, May 27, 2003

Ah yes, we set off on our arrival day. After getting acquainted with driving on the left, the numerous " Please drive on the left " signs, and our excellent tour guide, not much could go wrong. A short first stop in Waterford gave us time to get to know each other better and enjoy our first coffee.

Then we continued towards Dungarvan, where we stopped for photos on the N25. During the rest of the trip, we drove to Blarney Castle and were let in just before closing time. Blarney Castle is famous for the "Blarney Stone." Anyone wanting to climb the tower and see or kiss the Blarney Stone (supposedly bestowing eloquence, but the Irish don't need it anymore *laughs*) should leave their belongings at home, as the ascent is extremely narrow and can be quite difficult.

After the obligatory photo at Blarney Stone, we continued our journey to Cork, where we would find our first overnight accommodation, have some refreshments, and check out a pub or two, such as the Rory Gallagher Pub. A real highlight in the pubs is the live music – definitely not to be missed.
